The accused have been charged under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code for their roles in creating counterfeit trade documents, such as fraudulent Letters of Credit (LC), fabricated Bills of Lading, and false Certificates of Origin.

Key entities implicated in the fraud include Fareast Distribution and Gulf Distribution, both managed by their respective directors. Maple (UK) Ltd. and Vantage Business Ltd., with registrations in Hong Kong and the UK, were also found to be involved in the scam. These companies exploited fake documentation and manipulated banking systems to generate illegal financial benefits.
Individuals Involved in the Scam
Several individuals have been accused in connection with the fraud, including Shri Satish Chander Gupta, Shri Arun Kumar Arora, and other high-ranking officials. They are believed to have abused banking services, altered financial records, and engaged in dubious trade practices. The investigation revealed that these individuals used unverified documents to execute fraudulent transactions, resulting in significant financial losses for various banks and stakeholders.
Global Implications and Legal Proceedings
In addition to domestic entities, some accused individuals are based internationally, further complicating the case. The investigation has highlighted significant vulnerabilities in banking systems and regulatory processes, which were exploited for personal gain. Legal proceedings are currently ongoing, and the Special Judicial Magistrate has taken cognizance of the crimes under IPC Sections 120B, 420, and 471.
